Aptera Motors Announces Strategic Partnership with Inmotive Inc. to Enhance  Solar Electric Vehicle Efficiency

Inmotive’s Latest Industry Collaboration will Accelerate the Future of Ultra High Efficency EVs

Carlsbad, CA — Aptera Motors, a leader in solar electric vehicle (sEV) technology, has announced a new strategic partnership with Inmotive Inc. to explore opportunities for increased efficiency and sustainability in solar-powered transportation. This collaboration marks the beginning of a promising relationship, as both companies work together to integrate Inmotive’s Ingear™ two-speed transmission into Aptera’s future vehicles.

Aptera’s solar EVs are designed to maximize renewable energy use, allowing drivers to travel up to 40 miles per day on solar power alone. With the addition of Inmotive’s advanced two-speed transmission, Aptera aims to optimize its powertrain to consume less energy per mile—reducing reliance on the grid and minimizing the carbon footprint of its vehicles. This shift aligns with global efforts to decrease transportation emissions and accelerates the transition to cleaner, more sustainable mobility solutions.

Driving Sustainability Through Efficiency
Efficiency is at the heart of Aptera’s design philosophy. The company’s ultra-aerodynamic vehicle architecture, lightweight materials, and integrated solar panels already set new standards for energy efficiency in transportation. Through this new partnership, Aptera and Inmotive are exploring how cutting-edge transmission technology can support even greater energy savings and sustainability. Potential benefits include:

  • Lower Energy Consumption – Reducing electricity usage translates to lower emissions from power generation when charging from the grid.

  • Smaller Battery Requirements – A more efficient drivetrain reduces strain on battery packs, extending their lifespan and minimizing the need for raw material extraction.

  • Greater Renewable Energy Utilization – Lowering energy demand per mile increases the distance vehicles can travel on solar power alone, reinforcing their role as true zero-emission vehicles.

A Partnership for a Greener Future
“Our partnership with Inmotive represents an exciting opportunity to leverage technology that could further enhance the efficiency of our vehicles,” said Chris Anthony, CEO at Aptera Motors. “As we implement this technology into our next production-intent vehicle, we will be closely monitoring the efficiency impacts it has on our vehicles. We’re optimistic about the possibilities it could unlock for cleaner, more efficient transportation.”

Paul Bottero, CEO of Inmotive Inc., added, “No better place for the world's most efficient transmission than on the world’s most efficient EV. We’re excited to work with Aptera to demonstrate how transmission solutions play a major role in the low-cost EV era.”
